Regeria Hope Update – New GUI and graphics

G’Day there!

So work is still going strong on Regeria Hope – you can get the current demo here – and soon new sound effects will be added, by the amazing A. C. Menes (Seriously, check it out!) and then the demo will basically ready for prime time. In order to get you readers interested in maybe downloading the game again to see the changes, I’ve set up some videos so you can what a difference the new GUI and new transitions make.

Hope you like them! Feel free to leave feedback below.

Vote for the next free game!

G’Day all,

Now that BodyHuggers is done, the time has come to vote for the next free game!

This time we have 3 different board game ideas to look at. Vote for your favorite one below, and I’ll make it and produce a print and play version of it, so you can print it out at home and try it out.

Here’s the game ideas (Long time readers might recognize some of these) :

  • Your Grace, My Topiary is Better Than Yours: Free print and play card game, very similar to poker, but more accessible, and you get more points if you pretend to be from the 1800’s. Players will all be shown several pieces of furniture, and they will be able to play their descriptions of furniture in order to have the highest score at the end of the round. The backs of cards will be colored, so players could guess at which cards their opponents have for betting.
  • Lockdown: Free print and play board game, where you control a country, and some aliens. The player with the most tightly enforced police state wins! This is be very satirical, so expect cards about the NSA and TSA. You have to make sure that your citizens don’t completely panic, so you have to slowly bring the police state rules in.
  • Shaken, not Poisoned: Free print and play card game, where you play as spies at a grand party who all try to assassinate your targets before you are assassinated. You can team up with other spies to avoid being attacked, but targets change after each assassination, so your friend one turn could be an enemy the next turn.

Feel free to vote below! Any comments about anything to do with this site are welcome as well.

Body Huggers is Ready for FREE

Update: Voting for the new free game is now open! There’s three card/board game ideas to choose from.

Over the weekend, I was able to buckle down and get Body Huggers finished in a weekend! As promised, it’s a free download, and the code for the game is also available, so hopefully I get to see some other levels generated by other people out there.

Click here to find the game, and the game code if you want to try and add your own spin to the game.

Body Huggers is a game where you and a friend work together to get two blind aliens to meet up and hug. This game aims to be easy enough for anyone to pick up, and anyone can play. There is no way for your character to lose, so just invite a friend to play and have fun!

The game features music by UncleBibby and sprites by Kenney.

Here’s a youtube video of the game, and how it looks. Hope you try it out.

I’d love to hear any feedback, so feel free to comment below!

Brock ‘En Hart

Brock is a goofy kindhearted guy that you don’t really know much about. After his wife’s death, he is absolutely distraught, which leads him to do some incredibly stupid things.

Pharrell Triton

pharrell_normal
Pharrell Triton is your boss, a very charming and debonair lawyer. He’s helped your through law school, and proud to see you graduate with honors. He certainly cares for Regeria, and he will respect any choice she makes, even if it’s one that he will not agree with. He believes that Regeria should have her own path, and won’t influence your choices in any way. However, your choices will affect how he reacts to you.

Hawk Shaw

hawk_smug

Hawk is a good cop caught in a corrupt system. While he dresses like a shady character, he will do what he can to ensure justice is served, as long as his pay doesn’t get docked. He has a strange definition of fun, but once he thinks you’re a good egg, you’ll be glad you have him on your side.

My first playthrough of the new “After the Crash”

after-the-crash-website-banner

It’s been a while since I’ve wrote a blog post about “After the Crash”, but that’s only because I’ve been waiting for the new version of the game to arrive, after all the changes to the game mentioned previously.

Wow, what a difference a few playtests make. This version of the game is much snappier, and already I’ve had to make decisions that were agonizing.

20141022_200745

In one single player trial ( and trial seems to be the right word to use ) I’ve had to:

  • Grab every Plane Item and laugh at how easy I thought the game would be, but be a bit annoyed that I didn’t get a Crash Ax.
  • While foraging for food, a bear attacked me and seriously banged me up, and that damn bear would hunt me down for the rest of the game. I wish I had that Crash Ax.
  • After running so much, I was dying of thirst, so I went to the nearest river to try and drink some clean water. River’s have moving water right? I should be good?
  • I got dysentery.
  • Boston, I don’t love that dirty water.
  • I’m starving.
  • I made a spear with wood and a rock, then used it to kill a wolf, so that was pretty cool.
  • I then had to burn my precious spear to make fire so that I wouldn’t freeze through the night.
  • That fire died by morning, so I couldn’t cook the wolf meat I had, but at least the fire kept the bear out of my cave that night.
  • I then had to run as fast as I could to the nearest river, avoiding the bear, and then try dirty water again so I didn’t die of thirst. This river was clean, so my bowels would hopefully live another day.
  • Still outrunning the bear, I was slowly dying of hunger, every hour I could feel death’s bony fingers tapping on my shoulders. The wolf’s ghost was laughing at me through it’s flesh I was carrying. I could eat it, but I know it would give me food poisoning, and I would die. I continued to forage, hoping that I could find suitable firewood in the forest. Mother Nature plays some pretty mean practical jokes.
  • Foraging through the forest, I encountered yet another bear, and ran away from it, only to collapse and die alone in a pond from starvation.

So after playing this once, I’ve learned a few things:

  • I probably should have been a boy scout as a kid. That might have helped me be more of a survivor.
  • This game is getting awesome. I can’t wait to see how other people like it.
  • This is going to need a YouTube video to explain the rules and how the game plays.

Hopefully just reading this has you as excited about the game as I am. Feel free to leave some comments below, I’d love to hear from you!

Regeria Hope: Character Introductions 2

G’Day there,

Here’s today’s character! If you want to try the game’s demo, check it out here! Check out the Regeria Hope Tag for all the posts on Regeria Hope.

Artemis Narcissus

artemis_front_normal

The Prosecutor. She is very vain, and as her name shows, she loves herself. She doesn’t trust anyone, but she believes in the justice system, so evidence will make her more interested in a case. Her favorite color is purple, and isn’t seen too far away from a mirror.

Regeria Hope: Character Introductions

G’Day all,

As I’m getting closer and closer to December, the month I’m planning to release the full first episode of Regeria Hope for free, I figure now is a great time to introduce you to all the characters within the game. Hopefully I can try and keep this updated daily.

But first, the most important character!

Regeria Hope

Regeria_normal

Regeria is the character you will be playing as. She’s a very green lawyer, but she is extremely capable when she feels she is up to the task. While she can be shaken by the press on her first case, she always holds hope out for her client until the very end. Certain things are tough to write about this character, since you will control how she acts and how she responds to certain situations.

She will never back down from a challenge, and her shout, “Have at you!” can make prison guards jump!

That’s all for now, check back later for more characters! If you want to try the game’s demo, check it out here! Check out the Regeria Hope Tag for all the posts on Regeria Hope.
